Family matters. Here at St. Thomas’ we strive to focus on families because God cares deeply about the family and we believe that the solution to so many of society’s problems can be found in a wholehearted investment in stable, healthy families.
St. Thomas’ family ministry includes a ‘Family Eucharist’ which is held on special feasts day or holidays whereby the whole family of God stay together for worship at a 10:30am service. Instead of a children’s focus and Sunday school, a Family Eucharist will include a longer themed conversation in lieu of a sermon. Children and youth have a more active role in helping to lead the liturgy, pray the prayers, collect the offering and so much more.
Other aspects to family ministry include our annual ‘Fall Family Harvest Day’ and a ‘Family Advent Gathering’. Throughout the year other special social events are also planned with the family in mind, such as gym nights, skating, bowling, and bonfires.
Families that thrive demonstrate characteristics of love, compassion, grace, truth, and self-sacrifice. These give us a glimpse into the heart of God.
